Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School, originally known as Anglican Girls’ Grammar School, was founded in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. At a meeting of the School Governors, Archdeacon Okusanya and Bishop Odutola decided that the school should have a Yoruba name, distinct from other Anglican schools. Archdeacon Okusanya proposed the name “Fi iwa ṣe aiye rẹ, ki o ba le dara fun ẹ”, which translates to “Live your life with good character, that it may be well with you.” This philosophy remains at the heart of Fiwasaye’s mission.
