Preserving Legacy and Mentorship

We have successfully initiated projects to support the school's Parent Teachers Association, ensuring students receive vital educational assistance, while also creating a vibrant network that empowers future generations of graduates.

The Fiwasaye Old Girls’ Association – North America Chapter (FOGA-NA) is dedicated to fostering connections among old and present students of Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School (FGGS) in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria.

The primary mission of FOGA-NA is to support the educational advancement of pupils at Fiwasaye by assisting with the provision of facilities and resources to enhance the learning experience at the school.

Founded by passionate alumnae of Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, the Fiwasaye Old Girls Association - North America (FOGA-NA) serves former and current students of the school in Akure, Nigeria, by fostering connections and providing mentorship and resources to enhance educational experiences.

History of FOGA-NA

The Fiwasaye Old Girls’ Association (FOGA) was born out of the collective commitment of early alumni, including the first Principal, Late Miss Rosa Jane Pelly, and Vice Principal Miss Sheila Davis. FOGA was officially initiated in 1966 when the first set of girls graduated from Fiwasaye. Over the years, the association has grown globally, with multiple chapters across Nigeria and in countries worldwide.

FOGA-NA was created to bring together old girls of Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School (FGGS) who reside in North America, (USA and Canada). The chapter provides an opportunity for alumnae to stay connected with one another, promote the values of FGGS, and contribute to the development of the school.

The idea for FOGA-NA began to take shape during informal gatherings of old girls living in North America in 2009. These alumni reunions became the foundation for the creation of a more formal chapter. October 2010 marked the first reunion of FOGA-NA in Atlanta, and since then, the chapter has been actively supporting FGGS through fundraising, advocacy, and partnerships with other chapters.

FOGA-NA was established to ensure that Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School continues to receive the support and attention it deserves from its alumni across North America. While FOGA’s roots are deeply embedded in Nigeria, the North America chapter aims to promote the values of the school and its students within the larger diaspora community. FOGA-NA is committed to maintaining the spirit of unity and friendship that Fiwasaye is known for, providing an avenue for old girls to reconnect, support one another, and contribute to the ongoing development of the school.
